CALLING ALL LEADERS!

2008 State 4-H Leaders' Forum
WHEN: November 7-9, 2008
WHERE: Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove, CA

The State 4-H Leaders' Forum provides a weekend retreat for 4-H volunteers across California to gather for networking, education, relaxation, and fun. Volunteers of all ages, experiences, and locations share this opportunity to further their volunteering "career", find new inspirations, and bring new ideas home to their counties and clubs. The conference is sponsored by the State 4-H Leaders' Council and the 4-H Section planning conference.

There is funding available to help pay registration costs for Fresno County 4-H Leaders. Registrations are due by September 5, 2008. Call Melanie Curtis (456-7285) for more information.


"Letters to New Leaders" Listed here are "Letters to New Leaders" introducing, to you, the 4-H program and some resources that are available for your use: 

Letter 1: What is 4-H?   First letter in the "Letters to New Leaders" Series

Letter 2: Getting started with a 4-H project   Recruiting, Enrollment, dues, insurance, meetings and project materials are subjects covered in this issue.

Letter 3: Planning & Conducting 4-H Club Meetings   Setting goals and agendas, planning calendars, working with officers and committees, parent involvment and club activities are some of the subjects covered.

Letter 4: Leadership and Teaching Techniques   Leadership and Teaching Styles, tips for working with kids and "100 Ways to Say 'Very Good'"

Letter 5: 4-H Activities   Club activities, recognition activities ,4-H member divisions, county activities, sectional and state activities

Letter 6: 4-H Records and Achievement Programs   4-H Record Books, incentives and awards and achievment programs.

Letter 7: Opportunities for Leaders  Junior and Teen Leaders, opportunities at the county, sectional, state and national level, and resources for 4-H Leaders are discussed in the final letter of the series.
