What is the Latino Campaign?

 

 

What does the Latino Campaign do?

  • Created in 1994, the campaign encourages Latinos to eat the recommended amounts of fruitd and vegetables every day as part of a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of diet-related chronic diseases, especially cancer and heart disease.
  • The Campaign conducts culturally relevant, linguistically appropriate, and community-based social marketing interventions.
  • It disseminates the Campaign message by recruiting professional Health Educators, to serve as Booth Hosts and Community Health Leaders to present nutrition education in community settings.The Campaign then uses various communication advertisements media tours, festivals farmers'/flea markets, and retail stores to get the message to Latinos within their communities.

Where do we work?

  • The Campaign's target audience is Spanish-language dominant, and acculturated food stamp-eligible Latino adults and their families in California.
