Program Description
Conduct research and educational activities in commercial vegetable crops in Fresno County. Research activities are geared to help solve local production problems and activities change from year to year. Improving cultural practices, evaluation of varieties, and insect control are important components of this program.
The most important vegetable crops in the area are: Tomatoes (processing and fresh market), melons, onions and garlic, lettuce, cole crops, and peppers.
Commodity meetings and field days are held during the year to update clientele on research findings and other information pertinent to growing vegetable crops in Fresno County.
